Department : Computer Science and Engineering (NBA ACCREDITED) : Teaching Learning
Various innovative teaching strategies have been implemented by the faculty members in addition to the conventional classroom teaching. The strategies/methods by the faculties in teaching and learning shall be summarized under the five sections
A. Innovations in Method/Delivery of instructions
- Course Plan.
- Assignment & tutorial.
- Smart board and ICT based classes / Lectures.
- Laboratory manuals for laboratory courses.
- Presentation guidelines and project guidelines for seminar and project courses.
- Hands on delivery. (Theory classes handled in Laboratories)
The above listed instructional methods will be published on the commencement of each semester based on SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for Teaching and Learning Process.
Based on university calendar college calendar is prepared for each semester.
- As per the institute SOP for Teaching and Learning Process for each semester activities are planned for 15 weeks.
B. Innovative instructional methods
Various innovative methods are followed for teaching the concepts/ideas.
- Visualization of class rooms using ICT enabled classes for teaching.
ICT enabled classes are provided in which faculty members can use LCD projectors for visualizing and demonstrating various concepts, theories and procedures in addition to the lecture using white board. Different materials used by the faculty for this purpose include PowerPoint presentations, PDF and word documents (Prepared by faculty members), video lectures available from NPTEL and other reliable sources.
- Students are asked to take up MOOC Courses and NPTEL Courses in order to
enhance learning.
- Google Classroom is provided to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students
- End of semester revision timetable will be published for the needy students.
- To provide more support to slow learners model question papers with answer
keys are provided by the concerned faculty members.

C. Innovations in assessment and evaluation
- There are two internal assessment tests in each semester for learning assessment. The course outcomes of each module are evaluated based on the marks scored for the internal assessment test.
- The Program Assessment Committee scrutinizies the Internal Question Papers to ensure the quality of question paper. The question paper and answer key of the internal assessment tests are published immediately after exam so that student are able to identify their short comes.
- One question from the NPTEL/SWAYAM course related to the course is usually included for the assignment and faculty members ask the students to participate in SWAYAM/MOOC courses.
- As per the institute SOP, the evaluation process of assignment and internal assessment test are completed and published on time.
D. Inclusive Classroom activities
The following inclusive classroom activities are followed by faculties for better understanding of concepts.
- Hands on Learning
- Video Lectures
- Chart Diagram
- Peer Teaching
1. Hands on Learning
Students become more active on experimental learning, which helps them to develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper understanding of their subject. Project-based learning, a form of hands-on learning, increases student motivation and confidence. Real-world projects allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.

Video Lectures
Recording and uploading lecture videos online enables more active engagement with the material during the lecture, allowing students to learn at their own pace. They can rewind material that needs revisiting, speed up if material is familiar, or pausing to stop and take notes, check material, or complete an activity in their own time.

E. Skill development activities
Learning beyond curriculum enhances the student's knowledge and improves their interest in the field of study. Expert persons from industries are involved in this process.
The list of various skill development activities organized by the department:
- Expert talk
- Industrial Visit
- Internship
- Guest Lectures
Expert Talk
An expert talk is a special event where an expert or a distinguished individual from a particular field is invited to address the students. An industry professional or academic shares their knowledge, insights, and experiences with the students that may not be covered in regular coursework.

Industrial Visit
The industrial visit aims to train students to adapt to changing scenarios in technology. It provides information regarding the functioning of various industries, enabling students to identify their efficiency, confidence, and technical knowledge while understanding the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. Some of the companies visited by our students include FAB Lab, VSSC Rocket Launch, Srishti Innovative Computer Systems, Dr. Kalam Smrithi International Science & Space Museum, Sniqsys, UST Global, HAL, and Vishveswarayya Industrial & Technical Museum.

Internship
Internship is practical work experience that gains hands-on experience for a specific period. It involves working on real projects and focuses on applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, which builds practical skills, industry exposure, and enhances employability among students. University initiate doing the internship during the month of May.
